Aston Carter is partnering with a rapidly growing construction company in the Olathe area that is seeking an experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their team. Construction accounting experience is required, and a Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Compensation is flexible and will be based on relevant experience. This organization is on an impressive growth trajectory and is approaching $150 million in annual revenue. Job Description The Accountant/Bookkeeper will maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll, and managing accounts payable and receivable. This role involves preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, ensuring compliance with tax laws and accounting standards. Key skills include proficiency in Excel, high attention to detail, and data entry accuracy.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting and general ledger management.
  • Experience in month-end processes and reconciliation.
  • Ability to manage cash flow and accounts payable.
  • Expertise in bank reconciliation.
  • 2+ years of full cycle accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred (3-5 years of experience in accounting if no degree).
  • Construction industry experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions (sales, purchases, expenses) in the general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and sales tax monthly.
  • Handle bi-weekly payroll, monitor timesheets, and ensure tax compliance.
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate financial statements (income statements, balance sheets).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with accountants to prepare for tax season and audits.
