About The Position

The Accountant 9-P11 position within the Expenditure Unit at the Michigan Department of Corrections is a full-time role responsible for monitoring payments, posting transactions, providing customer service, and overseeing internal control activities. The role also involves participating in special projects related to accounting and financial activities, including the implementation of new systems and automation of processes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
• For Accountant 10: One year of professional experience in accounting or auditing.
• For Accountant P11: Two years of professional experience in accounting or auditing, including one year equivalent to an Accountant 10.
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification may substitute for one year of experience.
• Possession of a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification may substitute for six months of experience.
