About The Position

The Accountant 4 position at the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service involves providing specialized professional accounting services to the Office of Group Benefits. Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of professional level experience in accounting or financial auditing.
  • A certified public accountant (CPA) certificate can substitute for the baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus one year of experience.
  • A master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or public administration can substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare required financial statements and fiscal reports, including the compilation and analysis of data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Communicate with public and private accountants, auditors, banks, and vendors to provide information and technical assistance needed to resolve problems.
  • Maintain cash management records, including funds drawn and received, funds disbursed, and classification of revenue and expenditures.
  • Prepare, monitor, reconcile, audit, and forecast revenues, expenditures, and budgets.
  • Review and approve purchases and contracts.
  • Participate in the development of new accounting techniques and the design and implementation of accounting subsystems.
