JOB SUMMARY The Accountant 3 position is the advanced accountant role at The Wine Group. Contributing to the timely completion and analysis of financial results and accounting transactions, responsibilities also include fixed assets, General Ledger accounting, corporate financial reporting, lease accounting, and month end financial close. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant 3 will assist with the preparation of monthly financial packages, quarterly deliverables, and annual close. The successful candidate will be analytical, resourceful, and innovative with a working knowledge of US GAAP and TWG accounting policies ensuring that the principles are being practiced consistently in all areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-directed and motivated to innovate and improve processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, manage, and execute multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Work independently within set guidelines to accomplish company objectives.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accounting accuracy with a proven understanding of US GAAP.

  • Experience with J.D. Edwards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial packages including financial statements and margin reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries required to reflect monthly activity.
  • Perform and review general ledger account reconciliations; ensure account balances are properly and adequately supported.
  • Review lease agreements for proper accounting classification and manage lease accounting software.
  • Oversee capital expenditure policies and coordinate updates; assist with maintaining company fixed asset ledgers.
  • Manage special projects and implementations as assigned.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of annual property tax statements.
  • Assist with audit work papers for the annual financial audit.
  • Assist with external property tax audits.
