The State Accounting Office (SAO) provides accounting and financial reporting expertise for the State and is statutorily responsible for statewide financial reporting. The SAO also provides enterprise oversight and management of the State's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, accounting policy development, financial business process improvement recommendations, and management of the payroll and accounting shared service centers. Under supervision, records and evaluates financial transaction processing to ensure GAAP compliance. Reconciles accounting records and prepares reports. Analyzes and audits financial information and prepares reports to document or maintain records of assets, liabilities, or other financial activities within the agency.

  • Applies GAAP, state or federal fiscal guidelines and agency policies to establish records of accounts or financial transactions, review financial data, and assign entries or apply accounting control measures to proper accounts.
  • Maintains record, files and documentation related to accounting processes.
  • Prepares, examines, reconciles, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, budget records, and other documentation to assess their accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Provides support to auditors and other reviewers and identifies and corrects any problems revealed in reviews or audits.
  • Serves as liaison in responding to inquiries to solve routine accounting problems or for information/interpretation from third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors, and governmental entities.
  • Specific duties include but are not limited to entering AP Vouchers, travel vouchers, daily cashbook, reconciliations, 1099's and other duties assigned by manager.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the accounting department as well as program managers and other arms of the fiscal process.
  • Integrity and demonstrate accountability, respectability, responsibility, and reliability.
  • Experience in governmental accounting.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft Financials.
  • Flexible work hours in a hybrid in-office/remote work environment.
