About The Position

Reports directly to the Senior Executive Director of the Office of Behavior Management Support and Oversights. Requires inter-departmental work as this position is not limited to supporting students with exceptionalities. The position will build, demonstrate, integrate, and transfer knowledge and skills of de-escalation, Behavior Intervention Plans, and behavioral concepts, to provide site-based support for the implementation of federal requirements to building staff. This will include a results-based staff development plan to assist in connecting federal requirements around Emergency Safety Interventions and crisis development teams, problem-solving specific student issues, and increasing safety in focus schools and day schools.

  • Kansas Special Education Teacher License and/or nationally recognized credentials in Educational Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • History of high performance as a master teacher and IEP manager.
  • Experience in serving students with disabilities that involve social, emotional, and behavioral dysregulation and/or students with developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and/or autism.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in crisis intervention, de-escalation, first aid, or related areas are strongly encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, trains, and leads trainings as assigned
  • Assists with the development, preparation, and management of documentation required and reporting requirements.
  • Establish initial and continuing contact with building principals, leadership teams, and crisis management teams.
  • Assists in implementing identified policies and procedures with fidelity across specified buildings, programs, and students.
  • Work in classrooms modeling, team teaching, and observing as needed.
  • Assist staff in incorporating effective de-escalation and behavior strategies into their curricular areas.
  • Provide teachers with research-based strategies that address diverse student populations.
  • Assist with developing procedures to assist employees in responding to students in crisis.
  • Assist with analyzing ESI and discipline-related data to identify trends and areas of concern with specific student populations.
  • Work with Crisis Prevention Teams to help debrief crises that result in the use of an ESI.
  • Assists with the development of FBAs and BIPs, including through coaching and hands-on support and assistance to teams that may need additional support.
  • Assist in the development of intervention protocols (i.e., procedural guides) for staff at identified Focus Settings to follow in connection with Behavior Management Plans and Classroom Plans.
  • Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
