About The Position

The Office of Fiscal Services is seeking to hire an Account Technician I located in Springfield, Illinois to perform technical accounting working in the Expenditure Control Unit, Bureau of Expenditure Accounting, Office of Fiscal Services, Department of Human Services. This position examines, reviews and audits for accuracy, and processes and posts to accounting system payment vouchers submitted by agency personnel.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of a qualifying examination.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

Responsibilities

  • Examines, reviews and audits for accuracy, processes and posts to accounting system payment vouchers submitted by agency personnel.
  • Answers correspondence and handles phone inquiries pertaining to policies, rules and regulations, billing procedures, payments and complaints.
  • Maintains journals and registers for statewide funds including travel and administrative contractual vouchers; maintains accounts on statewide computerized accounting system, enters allocations, posts expenditures and liabilities, adjusts entries, performs monthly reconciliation, closes books and prepares reports for management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
