About The Position

Provides administrative and program coordination support related to student accounts, payment policies, and processing. The primary focus of this role is on Financial Aid operations and student enrollment and retention, including providing prospective and current students with information and assistance on admissions, registration, and financial aid. This position reports to the Business Affairs Officer at River Valley Community College.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in accounting or business management. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
  • Two (2) years experience in accounting or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
  • CCSNH has established employer status within the New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in student recruitment activities, including college open houses, student orientations, admissions events, and high school outreach opportunities, with a primary focus on providing financial aid guidance and support.
  • Assists prospective and current students with basic admissions, registration, financial aid, and billing policies and procedures.
  • Refers students and families to the Systems Office for counseling and advice regarding financial planning and financial aid eligibility, to ensure that all students (new, re-admitted, and returning) are fully aware of their financial obligations, as well as the appropriate financial resources and options available to them.
  • Makes referrals as needed for other college services.
  • Helps facilitate onboarding appointments for new students.
  • Updates and prepares Federal Work Study packets and job description packets.
  • Determines student eligibility for Federal Work Study.
  • Assists the Bursar by providing administrative support for student accounts and managing outreach to students to discuss financial aid needs, payment arrangements, financial holds, and finalizing payment plans.
  • Assists the Bursar with other accounting functions.
  • Manages the process of billing, collections, and loan disbursements.
  • Assigns accounting and clerical functions to staff and provides technical assistance to staff in resolving accounting or fiscal matters.
  • Provides training for business office staff as needed; provides technical training in the processing of accounts and operating procedures.
  • Maintains, processes, and bills for Early College online, high school, and on-campus scholarships.
  • Reviews and processes tuition refunds, waivers, and exemptions.
  • Keeps financial records, verifies and analyzes accounting data for disbursement and reconciliation of the Operating Account petty cash funds.
  • Oversees student payment plans and downloads FACTS data for reconciliation.
  • Verifies and processes the daily bank deposit when necessary.
  • Posts electronic deposits from operations and federal bank accounts.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
