About The Position

Role: Preserve the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. Strive to find constructive solutions for both the Credit Union and the member when repayment challenges arise. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: A high school education or GED.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Professional phone skills are required at all times.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Contact delinquent accounts by phone, text and mail; utilize the most effective communication channel; take appropriate action to bring current.
  • Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers; take action to repossess collateral when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  • Make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful; Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers.
  • Maintain accurate files and reports on all collections activity. Document correspondence in appropriate core system.
  • Inform management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans.
  • Testify at legal proceedings as required.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by supervisor. Employees shall be trained annually, demonstrate an understanding of, and follow the requirements of the BSA/AML Compliance Program as it specifically relates to their job functions.
