The Sales Account Representative at Interstate Batteries is responsible for expanding the product base with both new and existing accounts, while also increasing per-transaction sales to maximize profit margins. This role serves as the primary contact for a designated book of business, providing consistent support and account management to Store Owners, Managers, Distributors, and Customers. The position emphasizes building strong relationships, achieving sales goals, and collaborating with team members to drive growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Expand existing book of business through organic and new revenue leveraging Interstate Advantage and new product offerings.
  • Create predictable, profitable, and sustainable growth with 80% from existing accounts and 20% from new customers.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Store Owners, Managers, Distributors, and Customers while resolving issues promptly.
  • Engage customers through outbound call activities and meet all call metrics components.
  • Identify prospective customers through lead generation activities and maintain a 10% conversion rate.
  • Serve as the primary contact for strategic business partners to improve and share business plans for sales growth.
  • Prepare and coordinate team huddles with strategic partners.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers by providing excellent service and product support.
  • Develop marketing campaigns in partnership with the marketing team and business partners.
  • Meet and exceed personal and team sales goals, including revenue per transaction and gross profit goals.
  • Coordinate efforts with Customer Service Representatives to create auto-ship and regular refill orders.
  • Verify and process sales orders to ensure proper delivery and high customer satisfaction.
  • Research and resolve backorders effectively.
  • Prepare and present customized strategies to buyers, utilizing ethical sales methods.
  • Engage in continual training and skill development related to products and sales techniques.
  • Monitor market conditions and report competitor activities to the team.
  • Utilize customer contact tools and systems, keeping them updated with relevant information.
  • 1-2 years of proven track record in a team-based sales organization preferred.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to focus in a contact center environment with multiple distractions.
  • Competitive drive to succeed within a team structure.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work with various personality types.
  • Superb telephone etiquette and basic math skills.
