About The Position

UPMC Health Plan is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Account Executive to support and grow our Medicare Group business. This role is responsible for managing employer group accounts, developing strategic partnerships, and delivering tailored Medicare solutions that meet evolving needs to our clients. This will be a full time position working Monday through Friday daylight hours and will consist of working in office 3 days per week and at home 2 days per week. Occasional travel may be required once per month. The Account Executive, Medicare Employer Groups is the lead point of contact for an assigned book of business that includes UPMC for Life Medicare Employer Group Health Plan accounts (EGHP). The EGHP business contains strategic accounts central to UPMC as well as Government, Academic and Corporate clients. Account Executive, Medicare Employer Groups manages the sales process, renewal process, plans and conducts meetings with clients, reviews financial and utilization reporting with the client and makes recommendations for future medical plan design changes. The Account Executive, Medicare Employer Groups is responsible for maintaining the EGHP client relationship, developing and executing a strategic plan for his or her book of business which includes EGHP client satisfaction, client retention and winning new EGHP accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred with 3-5 years of successful insurance sales and/or account management experience required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain credibility in the marketplace.
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work with and take direction from Medicare Sales Senior Management and Medicare executives.
  • PA Accident and Health producer license required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new EGHP sales at the account level as well as the membership level.
  • Retain EGHP membership while maintaining profitability of the EGHP business.
  • Build upon process improvements in EGHP workflow by participating in and influencing workflow of Medicare CRM, UPMC Health Plan Employer Online and other initiatives as directed by Medicare Sales management.
  • Achieve growth through increased membership in accounts that offer UPMC Health Plan as an option, and cross sell other UPMC Insurance Services Division products and services.
  • Constructively and actively partner with internal UPMC Health Plan stakeholders such as Marketing, Finance and Government Operations.
  • Manage the client renewal process including review of alternative plan designs, conducting client meetings, and delivering employee open enrollment presentations, as needed.
  • Also, ensure that schedules of benefits are correct and ID cards are released in time for members to receive them prior to effective date of coverage.
  • Serve as a consultant to the client by analyzing utilization reports and working with Commercial account managers at UPMC Health Plan to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Support the mission of the Health Plan's senior leadership.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for assigned book of business.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on book of business in Medicare’s CRM and partner with other internal UPMC HP teams for data accuracy and sharing.
  • Provide timely and accurate weekly activity and other reports as required by Medicare Sales management.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal staff.
  • Keep up to date with UPMC Insurance Services Division product knowledge as well as legislation that impacts our business.
  • Work effectively with Medicare executives and sales management during the presale process to ensure early awareness, proper pricing and new client implementation.
  • Follow through on all EGHP client requests in a timely fashion.
  • Exercise good judgment in regard to alerting management of service and renewal issues that could negatively impact client retention.
