Major Duties Under general supervision of the Music Department Chair, the Accompanist’s primary responsibilities are to accompany students during lessons on an on-call basis. The accompanist provides support to recitals for vocal students and wind or string students and other similar duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Special training and/or coursework in piano performance and/or accompanying that would facilitate accompanying instrumentalists or vocalists on standard literature and new works in the classical repertoire.
Experience and thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists.
Knowledge and mastery in one or more of the following: string and wind repertoire, operatic and art song repertoire, fundamentals of harmony, and skill in collaborating with one or more musical instruments as accompanist; and knowledge of digital recording.
Knowledge of repertoire from all musical periods and past experience coaching and performing with young artists.
