About The Position

The Accommodations Specialist at the University of Denver plays a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities by reviewing accommodation requests and providing guidance throughout the accommodations process. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with persons with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret psychoeducational evaluations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and provide training effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with a culturally responsive approach to accommodation review.
  • Experience in higher education or student affairs.
  • Familiarity with federal laws governing services for persons with disabilities.
  • Experience with Accommodate software or similar tracking software.

Responsibilities

  • Review and determine eligibility for accommodations from enrolled students.
  • Provide guidance to students and their support systems about the disability accommodations process.
  • Assist students in the accommodations process associated with field placements and practicums.
  • Attend and collaborate in bi-weekly accommodation review team meetings.
  • Support a caseload of students, focusing on graduate and non-traditional students.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to ensure appropriate resources for students in field placements.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to compliance with applicable laws.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts and staff information fairs for prospective and new students.
  • Develop and conduct trainings on accessibility and Universal Design for Learning.
  • Liaise between students, faculty, and staff regarding accommodations.
