About The Position

The Accommodation Coordinator position at Drexel University is a full-time role within the Office of Disability Resources (ODR). The primary purpose of this role is to assist the Associate Director in interpreting medical documentation and providing support for students seeking medical exemptions and accommodations. The coordinator will engage with students to discuss their disabilities and determine reasonable accommodations to enhance their educational experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Disability Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with people with disabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve with colleagues and assist individual faculty and staff in the provision of accommodations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and records.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Disability Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology or a related field.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting.
• Working knowledge of Section 504 and the ADAAA as it applies to postsecondary education.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation and approve reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Meet with students to discuss the impact of their condition on their educational participation and determine reasonable accommodations.
• Communicate with students, parents, and campus partners to establish or maintain reasonable accommodations.
• Make appropriate referrals and propose additional support to students with disabilities.
• Assist with ODR outreach and open house events, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
