About The Position
As an Accessioner in Toxicology at SAGIS PLLC, you will play a crucial role in the laboratory by ensuring the accurate entry of specimen data into the laboratory information system. Your responsibilities will include verifying that the proper request forms are utilized and that all requisition details are correctly identified, including the patient's full name, date of birth, tissue site, date of collection, and the physician's name. It is essential to ensure that the specimen bottle is properly labeled with the same information to maintain consistency and accuracy in the laboratory processes. In addition to data entry, you will be responsible for properly labeling all specimen bottles and cassettes with the appropriate accession number. You will also handle the transcription and mailing of laboratory business correspondence, maintain filing systems for laboratory reports and correspondence, and manage various logs. Effective communication is key, as you will be handling and directing telephone and other incoming and outgoing laboratory communications as needed. You may also be required to perform other tasks in the laboratory as deemed necessary by the Laboratory Supervisor, adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures of SAGIS. The position requires a commitment to working Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, which may include late shifts and weekends when necessary. This role is vital to the smooth operation of the laboratory, ensuring that all specimens are processed accurately and efficiently.
