Must be flexible to work: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00am-7:30pm; Saturday 10:00am-8:30pm OR , Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am-7:30pm; Saturday 10:00am-8:30pm. Summary The Accessioner I is responsible for the receiving and accessioning of all patient specimens, and following established policies and procedures, in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong computer and typing skills (a Typing Test will be required).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • AS or BS degree in chemistry, biology, or related science field preferred.
  • Data Entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learns and follows the established standard operating procedures for sample handling and record keeping.
  • Receives and triages patient specimens.
  • Assigns each specimen an accession number and creates a patient chart.
  • Enters patient information into LIMS database, with strict adherence to HIPPA laws.
  • Transports all accessioned specimens to the DNA extraction team and/or cell culture team, as appropriate.
  • Label patient documents with barcode for later scanning of patient charts through OnBase.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance, takes authorized corrective action, and notifies key individuals.
  • Adhere to quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.
  • Additional duties maybe assigned.
