Must be flexible to work: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00am-7:30pm; Saturday 10:00am-8:30pm OR , Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am-7:30pm; Saturday 10:00am-8:30pm. Summary The Accessioner I is responsible for the receiving and accessioning of all patient specimens, and following established policies and procedures, in a professional manner.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Strong computer and typing skills (a Typing Test will be required).
Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
Ability to work well independently and within a team.
Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

AS or BS degree in chemistry, biology, or related science field preferred.
Data Entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Learns and follows the established standard operating procedures for sample handling and record keeping.
Receives and triages patient specimens.
Assigns each specimen an accession number and creates a patient chart.
Enters patient information into LIMS database, with strict adherence to HIPPA laws.
Transports all accessioned specimens to the DNA extraction team and/or cell culture team, as appropriate.
Label patient documents with barcode for later scanning of patient charts through OnBase.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance, takes authorized corrective action, and notifies key individuals.
Adhere to quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.
