About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laboratory Accessioner to join our team. This role is responsible for accurately receiving and accessioning specimens into the laboratory system, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining proper documentation and storage procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong computer skills with data entry proficiency, ensuring speed and accuracy.
Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
Capability to work effectively in both team and individual settings.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with specimen accessioning (preferred).
Familiarity with medical or pharmaceutical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

Receive and accession specimens into the laboratory system with accuracy.
Troubleshoot specimens that do not meet laboratory acceptance criteria.
Maintain contact with the ordering client or appropriate agency to obtain necessary documentation corrections or insurance prior-authorizations.
Document and track specimens placed on hold pending insurance verification or order corrections.
Document, track, and notify the ordering client or appropriate agency of specimen rejections.
Maintain the specimen storage area, ensuring proper storage conditions, organization, and timely specimen discard.
Perform quality control of accessioning completed by other team members prior to releasing specimens for processing.
Remain knowledgeable and competent in applicable laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols.
Adhere to CLIA guidelines and standards.
Maintain an organized and clean workspace.
Maintain an inventory of accessioning supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
