About The Position

The Accessibility Technical Lead at Vanguard is responsible for providing senior-level accessibility technical support and consulting to developers across the enterprise. This role focuses on improving the accessibility of web and mobile applications, ensuring compliance with accessibility guidelines and best practices. The Accessibility Office aims to enhance Vanguard's ability to create accessible information and functionality for all users, collaborating with various IT teams to implement these standards effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least two years of development experience and two years of accessibility experience.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 level A and AA).
  • Experience with HTML 4 and 5, ARIA, CSS 2 and 3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with automated testing and building Single Page web applications.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, ZoomText) is a plus.
  • Development experience with Angular, React, and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Platform (S3, EC2, Postgress, DynamoDB, ECS Fargate, Lambda) is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tableau.
  • Knowledge of software development methodology and architecture standards.

Responsibilities

  • Advise, support, and contribute solutions to front-end design and development teams to improve accessibility.
  • Train and coach Front-End Developers, Software Testers, UX Designers, Content Strategists, Visual Designers, and accessibility ambassadors on best practices.
  • Provide an overview of techniques for building user interfaces that comply with Accessibility Guidelines.
  • Interface with cross-functional team members, including database administrators, IT security, project managers, and clients.
  • Contribute to Vanguard's knowledge of industry accessibility and documentation as needed.
  • Support tracking and monitoring of accessibility issues from discovery through remediation.
  • Provide advanced IT technical lead services and direction for software, middleware, or hardware projects.
  • Complete complex development, design, implementation, and maintenance activities.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on project issues and implications.
  • Mentor IT staff with less experience and identify training needs.
