About The Position

The Accessibility Specialist at NEOMED is responsible for providing comprehensive support for student accommodation requests, collaborating closely with various stakeholders including the University Student Accessibility Services Committee, faculty, and students. This role involves facilitating exam proctoring logistics, conducting advising meetings, and developing workshops aimed at enhancing students' executive functioning and time management skills. The specialist will also be tasked with training faculty and staff on advocacy and compliance with accessibility regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a relevant field.
  • Two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, educational psychology, or related field.
  • Experience with Maxient software for case management.
  • Experience with Canvas or related Learning Management Software.
  • Experience providing diagnostic/prescriptive advising and learning skills assistance.
  • Experience in presenting workshops related to accommodations support.
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and providing accessibility services.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary education setting, preferably with medical professionals.
  • Experience advising and supporting neurodivergent student learners.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate student accommodation requests by facilitating meetings and managing case files.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Student Accessibility Services Committee, organizing meetings and collaborating with university personnel.
  • Communicate accommodation decisions to students, faculty, and campus employees.
  • Assist with academic intervention and advising for professional students, tracking progress and providing support.
  • Interpret assessment instruments and provide skill development advising to students.
  • Collaborate with Assessment staff for exam proctoring and testing accommodations.
  • Develop and conduct trainings and workshops on advocacy and accessibility compliance with the ADA.
  • Perform data entry and analysis of student requests and accommodations for reporting purposes.
  • Provide leadership on retention and progression initiatives for the department.
  • Oversee the development of an office assessment plan for accessibility services.
