About The Position

The Accessibility-Focused Web Developer will be part of HNTB's Creative Engagement Solutions Team, focusing on developing and maintaining accessible web applications and systems. This role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and innovation to ensure digital solutions meet accessibility standards, particularly the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The ideal candidate will work on multiple projects, providing expertise in accessibility while collaborating with a diverse team of developers, designers, and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in computer science or related field and 2 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 7 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing solutions related to digital accessibility.
  • In-depth understanding of digital accessibility standards, such as WCAG and ARIA.
  • Experience using accessibility testing tools, including screen readers.
  • Knowledge of creating accessible forms, navigation, and multimedia content.
  • Certifications related to accessibility, such as WAS, CPWA, CPACC, NVDA, or JAWS.
  • Experience developing solutions using C# and .NET Core.
  • Experience using Angular and Vue.js.
  • Experience with JavaScript TypeScript, CSS, and design frameworks such as Material Design or Bootstrap.
  • Experience deploying cloud-based web applications with AWS and/or Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software applications.
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
  • Work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that the software meets business requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other developers.
  • Write technical documentation for software applications.
  • Assist team members in identifying and organizing project needs and expectations.
  • Utilize knowledge of development languages and systems to work on complex projects.
  • Provide user support and troubleshoot complex technical problems with legacy applications.
  • Develop user interfaces for web applications based on data use and client needs.
  • Conduct accessibility audits and usability testing with assistive technologies.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create accessible and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Ensure responsive design principles are applied to create accessible experiences across devices.
