About The Position

The Accessibility Document Specialist provides Section 508 compliant document remediation support with an emphasis on PDF, MS Suite, and Canvas content remediation. The Specialist will convert documents to ensure accessibility to people with disabilities in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1AA), PDF guidelines, and institutional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
  • Ideal candidate will enjoy learning new technologies, working collaboratively, and finding solutions to unique technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Convert and format documents to be readable by assistive technology devices.
  • Perform Section 508 document evaluation and remediation.
  • Apply appropriate tags to documents for accessibility.
  • Maintain visual attributes of the original documents after remediation.
  • Create accessible PDF forms and tables.
  • Evaluate documents for color contrast.
  • Write alternative text.
  • Work within assigned deadlines.
  • Use ClickUp or other project management software to record and organize work.
  • Maintain an archive of completed work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
