We are seeking a LPN, Paramedic, or EMT interested in full-time employment to join our remote team. The Access Specialist II (LPN, Paramedic, EMT) will work remotely and coordinate through inbound and outbound calls the acceptance of patients into LifePoint Health system and facilitates patient transfer process with patients going out of LifePoint Health system to non-LifePoint health system. This position involves performing initial admission screening and acceptance using approved clinical criteria to assure patient acceptance and admission are consistent with current protocols and procedures. The role requires collaboration with multiple departments within the hospital and facilitates relationships with facilities, physicians, and nursing staff. The Access Specialist will work closely with the Bed/Capacity Coordinator to identify, trend and report barriers to patient throughput, supporting 24/7 operations. Responsibilities include coordinating all components related to the admission/transfer or consult of emergent, urgent, and elective patients, systematic processing of patient acuity, and maintaining Transfer Center data collection.

  • Perform initial admission screening and acceptance using approved clinical criteria.
  • Work in collaboration with multiple departments within the hospital.
  • Facilitate relationships with facilities, physicians, and nursing staff.
  • Coordinate all components related to the admission/transfer or consult of patients.
  • Systematic processing of patient acuity and clinical decision making.
  • Document and prioritize patient information for accepting healthcare workers.
  • Assign Transfer Priority Level for triage/transport of patients.
  • Maintain Transfer Center data collection and provide feedback to referring facilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development and patient care.
  • Educate nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff on admission/transfer issues.
  • Act as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Coordinate with Bed/Capacity Coordinator for timely transfer and bed assignment.
  • Adhere to established protocol, procedure, and standard of care.
  • Graduate of an accredited school/college and holds applicable current licensure in state of residence (LPN, Paramedic, EMT).
  • Three years of related clinical experience in an acute care setting (ED or Critical Care Preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and electronic formats.
  • Must be able to multitask by attentively listening and simultaneously typing 38-40 wpm.
