Please follow this link for a closer look at what it’s like to work at Children’s Wisconsin: https://www.instagram.com/lifeatcw/ Job Summary Under the direction of the Medical Director and Manager, this position is responsible for organizing and coordinating all aspects of the intake of new patients into Mental and Behavioral Health clinical programs. Completes an assessment phone call with each patient and makes a clinical decision about the most appropriate placement and type of appointment. Ensures appointments are scheduled correctly in Epic, provides appointment confirmations, and required paperwork for families. Works closely with clinical and support staff to ensure a smooth and timely process of information gathering, decision-making and scheduling of new patients.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field with mental health experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years related and applied experience in a mental health field in lieu of Master’s degree required
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate clinical interventions, as well as knowledge of mental health insurance preferred.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Adequate writing skillset for the completion of forms, chart documentation, and other written materials.
  • Demonstrated strong and creative problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to all requests for services in Mental and Behavioral Health through telephone contact with the requesting party. Gathers all necessary information to obtain an understanding of the appropriate level of care and need for services per established protocols. Accurately records information gathered.
  • Uses referral information to assess and prioritize the needs of new patients. Makes the most appropriate scheduling placement for the child.
  • Assigns each patient to the most relevant provider and directs the scheduling of new patients for evaluation and other necessary appointments. Assists parents and others in creatively identifying and eliminating any barriers that may exist to keeping scheduled appointments.
  • Facilitates physician/provider referrals, striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Uses good clinical skills and judgment in interacting with patients and families to ensure a smooth, timely and patient-focused intake process.
  • Consults with colleagues as appropriate to assess and respond to potential safety concerns that may be raised during the intake process.
  • Completes and maintains all necessary and appropriate files and records associated with intake to Mental and Behavioral Health programs. Documentation is clear, thorough, and timely.
  • Maintains current list of providers, insurance panels, and community resources.
  • Assists in the gathering and reporting of program data, quality assurance and outcome evaluation as assigned.
  • Participates as appropriate in ongoing professional education and skill development.
