About The Position

The Security Technician at Pref-Tech will be responsible for installing access control, IP-based and analog video management systems, intrusion, and auto-gate equipment. Scope of duties include, but are not limited to, installation of electrified locks, card readers, ancillary access-controlled door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless networks, intrusion, and intercom systems. This person will need to be detail orientated and able to document and communicate all repairs, as well as effectively communicate with customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant security experience or equivalent, relevant access control installation, service and configuration.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid TX Driver’s License.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, IT networks, and system integration concepts.
  • Experience with any or all the following: Access Control CCTV
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks like walking, standing, driving, lifting up to 50lbs unassisted, and ascending / descending ladders and stairs of varying heights with little to no limitation.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in security technologies.
  • Currently licensed or must have the ability to obtain TXDPS Security License.
  • Have a valid TX driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Access Control and CCTV software platforms, such as Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, Bosch, DMP, Axis, Hanwha, HID, Mercury, and Bosch/Radionics.
  • Active or prior certifications from leading Access Control System (ACS) and CCTV manufacturers.
  • OSHA 30

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and testing of access control, intrusion, and camera systems.
  • Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes and integrated systems.
  • Collaborate with project team to ensure successful implementation of project specifications.
  • Document detailed configurations, processes, and technical issues encountered during installations.
  • Operational understanding of low voltage systems, relays, principals of normally closed/normally open, series and parallel wiring.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in installation practices, troubleshooting techniques, and system optimization.
  • Adhere to company safety standards and protocols during all installations.
  • General understanding of Network Topology.
  • Use a multi-meter to test for voltage, continuity, and resistance.
  • Possess mechanical and computer skills and ability to effectively troubleshoot.
  • Operate any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding drawings and equipment schematics is required.
