About The Position

Under the general direction of the Physical Security Systems Manager, acts as field technical support for access control systems. Also, as secondary field technical support for PantherCard System, Point of Sale Systems, parking and other Auxiliary and Support Services administrative systems. Physical Demands: This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction site including new installations and retrofit environments. The employee must be able to ascend/descend a ladder, crawl, kneel, crouch, stoop with frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds. Proficient in the use of hand tools associated with electrified door-set installations, strikes, mags, sensors, hinges, card readers, etc. Knowledge base & skillset to include cable pulls / installation / termination into network switch and control boards. Thorough understanding of low voltage electrical principals and applications involving power supplies, solenoids, relay logic integrations, etc. The significant growth in access control at Perimeter College campuses, as well as major updates to existing systems require the personnel resources necessary to support this large enterprise system.

Requirements

  • Technical degree and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid GA driver's license required.
  • Experienced with commercial and institutional access control systems, including CBORD, S2 and Transact.
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs.
  • Familiarity with electrical, network testing tools including voltmeter, cable mapper, etc.
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals required.
  • Must be able to work overtime, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Act as campus-wide field technical support for assigned access control systems to include, CBORD, Transact and S2. Visits various access control devices as needed to troubleshoot and effect repair or replacement as needed.
  • Works with the Physical Security Systems Manager, Access Control Tech(s), IIT, Public Safety, Contractors and Vendor representatives in coordinating system and equipment support, maintenance, and repair services with external vendors.
  • Provide technical support for other campus card system components as needed, such as point-of-sale terminals, ID production workstations, various card readers or scanners.
  • Liaison with campus customers both internal and external via email or phone to provide updates as needed on projects/repairs.
