About The Position

The Access Control Technician position is a technical role and is key to the growth of the company. This hands-on technical position involves working in the field with clients. Ideal candidates will have experience with commercial access controls, wiring, and surveillance cameras hardware and software knowledge, and demonstrate the ability to solve problems in the field. Technicians are constantly learning new technology solutions in the security industry and help clients every day. They also service mechanical locks and doors, traveling to commercial clients like schools, manufacturing facilities, and churches to resolve and provide electronic access.

Requirements

  • Experience with access controls, surveillance cameras, wiring.
  • Ability to fluently understand, speak, and write English.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs-100 lbs.
  • Ability to meet all application requirements.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, and stoop.
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work above ground.
  • Withstand external weather conditions year-round.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specific brand systems such as CDVI, PDK, Avigilon ACM, Brivo, OpenPath.
  • Experience with credentials and biometrics like card readers, smart phones, fingerprint, facial recognition, pin pad, HID.
  • Experience with CCTV brands like Dahua, Hanhwa, Exacq, Avigilon, Axis, Speco.
  • Experience with video and audio intercoms like Aiphone, Doorbird, Speco.
  • Experience with lock hardware brands like HES, GLS, Rutherford, Schlage, Allegion Brands, Assa Brands, SDC Controls, Lock Retrofit Kits, Magnetic Locks, Electrified Trim Sets, Electrified Crash Bars, Electrified Strikes, Electrified Handsets, Schlage NDE.
  • Experience with networks, testing, and termination.
  • Experience with wireless systems like Ubiquiti.

Responsibilities

  • 7-10 years experience in technical hands-on field experience in security solutions, access controls, surveillance cameras, wiring.
  • Drive company vans to commercial clients to inspect, install, and service all commercial access and video systems.
  • Experienced with service, install and configure of access controls, card readers, wiring, cameras, CCTV hardware and software.
  • Respond to customer questions and requests.
  • Recommend corrective services to adjust customer complaints.
  • Diffuse difficult and complex customer issues.
  • Define the scope of add-ons and change orders, seek customer approval, and create invoices and estimates.
  • Perform site visits by themselves or with sales consultants for existing or potential clients.
  • Take responsibility for the project from first walk-through to final sign-off and hand-offs to service.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections/service calls and troubleshooting as required including documentation and updating apps and the electronic software used.
  • Use smart phone app and computer software to check in and collect payments from clients.
  • Act as onsite project lead to meet project timelines and goals and oversee lead technicians, technicians, apprentices, and subcontractors.
  • Other duties as required by management.
