About The Position

The Access Center Specialist at Nemours is responsible for facilitating patient access to specialty appointments through effective communication and scheduling. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • More than one (1) year of customer service, medical office, or call center experience.

  • NAHAM certificate - CHAA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with patients/providers via telephone to schedule specialty appointments.
  • Obtains and enters accurate demographic and insurance information for all encounters.
  • Discusses financial obligations with patient families and collects payments or escalates to Financial Advocates when necessary.
  • Monitors registration and insurance-related items in patient work queues for timely claim filing.
  • Provides superior customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Answers calls for assigned clinic specialties using standardized greeting and closure.
  • Captures and verifies patient demographic and insurance information in the EMR system.
  • Schedules appointments in the EMR system according to guidelines.
  • Provides necessary appointment information and directions via mail or email after scheduling.
  • Reviews electronic communications to stay updated on department processes and notifies leadership of any questions.
  • Utilizes escalation guidelines to prioritize health concerns and document calls as instructed.
  • Collects copays and outstanding balances at the time of scheduling.
  • Identifies and attempts to resolve complaints, escalating when necessary.
