About The Position

The Access Center Clinician at WellSpan Philhaven is responsible for assisting with initial triage and assessment, providing clinical oversight, facilitating the admissions process, and serving as a resource about internal and external services. The clinician will assist with security and patient behavioral management, and provide crisis intervention services. The role involves triaging requests for service, documenting all requests using computerized inquiry functions, and maintaining a knowledge base of insurance/managed care processes related to pre-certifications and authorizations. The clinician will conduct in-depth clinical assessments, determine appropriate levels of care, and assist clients and their families with necessary paperwork. The position requires interaction with clients and family members while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to their needs. The clinician will also communicate and coordinate care with other providers and agencies, support counselors in problem-solving, and maintain awareness of community resources. Additionally, the clinician will perform hospital security and safety duties as outlined in training.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in Psychology, social work, or related experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the current state of residence.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with clients and family members with awareness of confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Completes necessary documentation for treatment authorization by 3rd party payers.
  • Communicates and coordinates care with other providers or agencies.
  • Provides support to counselors in problem-solving.
  • Maintains awareness of community resources.
  • Serves as an initial contact for internal emergencies and public relations issues.
  • Conducts security rounds and campus drive-throughs as scheduled.
  • Maintains knowledge of admission criteria and mental health legal requirements.
  • Assists in behavioral management emergencies.
  • Completes training as a designated Mental Health Delegate for involuntary commitments.
  • Provides telephone crisis services when primary Crisis Intervention Counselor is unavailable.
  • Performs hospital security and safety duties.
