This role performs hospital-based registration in an on-site patient facing setting, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities include coordinating care with ancillary departments, ensuring confidentiality (HIPAA), managing patient throughput, and obtaining timely and accurate information for patient registration. The associate collects patient demographics and insurance information, verifies eligibility, and collects copays/deposits/deductibles. They utilize standardized scripting for compliance, educate patients on insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs using Epic generated estimates, and connect patients with financial assistance resources. Registration duties are performed while maintaining patient integrity and safety, following departmental processes, including maintaining waiting rooms, informing clinical teams of medical concerns, identifying/performing critical registration tasks (CARES, Stroke, WC, Protocols, ODACS, etc.), wayfinding, and assisting with transportation/visitor needs.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Experience in fast paced customer driven environment
  • Ability to operate multiple computer applications
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Typing speed of 35 wpm
  • Medical terminology required within first year of employment if not already taken
  • 1-2 years experience Customer Service
