About The Position

The A1 Academy offers a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing training team dedicated to developing top-tier technicians and installers within a premium garage door service organization. This position is responsible for delivering, facilitating, and continuously improving training for new, existing, and senior technicians. This role supports technical mastery, operational excellence, and the “art of service” through classroom instruction, live demonstrations, technical instruction within garage training bays, and one-on-one performance coaching with students. What You’ll Do Deliver engaging instruction through classroom sessions, live technical demonstrations, and hands-on coaching Demonstrate proper installation of garage door openers, springs, and related equipment Train technicians across technical, operational, and service excellence competencies Assess learner skills, behaviors, and performance gaps; provide clear, constructive feedback Conduct difficult coaching conversations when needed to drive growth and accountability Leverage company technologies and systems to support training and skill development Collaborate closely with the Training Manager and Director Uphold and teach The A1 Way, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and approved service methods Support content development, documentation, research, and special training projects Maintain accurate training records and follow established communication and training procedures Continuously build expertise in garage door services and instructional best practices Adapt to an evolving training environment and shifting business needs Willingness and ability to work Saturdays as needed Perform additional duties aligned with training activities as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in garage door services
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to present material in an engaging, clear, and practical way
  • Excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Confidence coaching individuals and groups at varying skill levels
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
  • Comfort using technology, systems, and training tools (ServiceTitan a plus)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 75 lbs. or more
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, and stand for extended periods
  • Capable of performing the essential physical functions of a technician
  • Ability to work in classroom, shop, and live-training environments
  • Technical credibility and hands-on mastery in garage door systems, with a strong commitment to safety and “The A1 Way”
  • Effective instructional and facilitation skills; able to clearly teach and demonstrate technical, operational, and service excellence concepts
  • Strong coaching and feedback capability, including confidence in addressing performance gaps and having difficult growth conversations
  • Clear communication and professionalism, with strong verbal, written, and organizational skills supported by comfort with technology
  • Adaptability and growth mindset, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while continuously improving skills, content, and training methods
