About The Position

Provides academic assistance one-on-one and/or in a group setting to students enrolled in specific courses.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the course(S) you wish to tutor, as demonstrated by a grade of A or B earned within the past one to two years.
• Recommendation of an LBCC instructor in the subject area tutoring.
• Must have overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and no serious student conduct/disciplinary history.
• Requires strong academic competence in the courses tutored, as determined by course instructor.
• Must have well-developed interpersonal communication skills and study group facilitation skills.
• Requires the ability to independently perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
• Must have the ability to learn and employ effective tutoring methods to meet tutor program objectives.
• Requires the ability to respond sensitively to diverse student needs.
• Requires ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written English.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer candidates who have successfully completed the courses tutored.
• Prefer candidates who have experience facilitating group learning experiences.
• Prefer candidates who are knowledgeable about study skills and group communication theory.
