About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Jacinto, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in San Jacinto, CA Schedule: 25 hours, 2 session per week for 1 hr Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Experience working with students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and dysgraphia Background supporting elementary students in foundational literacy and math skills Strong knowledge of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and reading comprehension strategies Familiarity with foundational math instruction, including double-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication tables, perimeter, and area Experience using play-based, interactive, and hands-on teaching strategies Ability to support students with writing challenges, including dysgraphia accommodations and alternative writing methods Patient, positive, and engaging personality with the ability to motivate young learners Skilled in providing structured reinforcement and breaking tasks into manageable steps Creative in incorporating student interests into lessons to increase engagement Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to determine skill levels and guide instruction

Requirements

  • Experience working with students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and dysgraphia
  • Background supporting elementary students in foundational literacy and math skills
  • Strong knowledge of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and reading comprehension strategies
  • Familiarity with foundational math instruction, including double-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication tables, perimeter, and area

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine the student’s current academic levels in literacy and math
  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and comprehension
  • Reinforce decoding strategies and vocabulary development through guided reading activities
  • Support foundational math skills including double-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication tables, perimeter, and area
  • Use interactive, hands-on learning activities to reinforce math and reading concepts
  • Provide support with writing tasks while implementing accommodations for dysgraphia (e.g., templates, guided writing, interactive writing tools)
  • Reinforce homework completion while building academic confidence and independence
  • Break down lessons into structured, manageable steps with consistent reinforcement
  • Incorporate student interests (e.g., puppies, computer games, friendships) into activities to maintain engagement and motivation
  • Maintain a positive, fun, and supportive learning environment while encouraging progress and persistence
  • Provide progress updates to caregivers as appropriate
