About The Position

The Academic Records Specialist at The University of Bridgeport is responsible for managing day-to-day operations in the Office of the Registrar, ensuring high-quality customer service and adherence to academic policies. This role involves handling inquiries, maintaining student records, processing transcripts and verifications, and supporting the overall functions of the Registrar's office.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • 2 years of related work experience in records and registration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using student information systems (e.g., Ellucian Colleague) and other web-based student platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries and visitors to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Answer and respond to telephone calls, manage the Registrar's Office email account and calendar.
  • Sort, open, and distribute mail delivered to the office.
  • Prepare and provide hardcopy official transcripts, degree/enrollment verifications, and process diplomas upon graduation or request.
  • Register students and maintain data in the student records database, correcting discrepancies as needed.
  • Receive and process student forms and maintain office equipment and supplies inventory.
  • Monitor and update the Registrar's and Parchment portal sites.
  • Scan records and other documents as needed.
  • Research problems or inquiries related to transcripts, certifications, credentials, enrollment, and/or degree verification.
