The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Academic Program Specialist works to provide a direct and supportive department connection to prospective and enrolled students and supports department programs and events that enrich the student experience in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Academic Program Specialist works closely with the college’s student services team and other ECE faculty and staff in supporting the department’s educational mission. This position will work closely with ECE student organizations, assist with student facing events, and review scholarship and RSO grant applications. They have the responsibility of attracting and retaining talented graduate and undergraduate students and promoting non-pooled tuition programs. This includes providing curricular data for decision making and managing student-facing web content and communications, student events, seminars, undergraduate research opportunities, scholarships, fellowships and student organizations. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UW-Madison has a long tradition of excellence in educating, mentoring, and inspiring future leaders; conducting research that is of vital importance to society; and serving Wisconsin, our nation, and the world through professional pursuits. Our 48 tenure-track/tenured faculty and 10 instructional faculty are leaders in their fields, respected nationally and internationally for their innovative research and teaching excellence. Approximately 400 graduate students and over 1100 undergraduate students are enrolled in our top-ranked degree programs. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. The anticipated hybrid work schedule will be up to two days remote, with 3 days onsite after an initial training period which will require working 5 days on site.
