The UF Online Academic Operations & Curriculum Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing the academic program lifecycle-from launching new online degree programs to coordinating course development and curriculum approvals. Reporting to the Associate Director for UF Online, this role works closely with academic units to ensure programs remain high-quality, compliant, and aligned with student demand. With a focus on strategic planning, workflow management, and collaboration, this is an exciting opportunity to impact the future of academic delivery in one of the nation's top online programs. The UF Online Academic Operations & Curriculum Specialist is a collaborative and detail-oriented leader responsible for managing the academic program lifecycle for UF Online. Reporting to the Associate Director, this role leads research and development of new academic programs, coordinates curriculum approvals, and works closely with academic units and leadership to produce intentional and prioritized course development. Additionally, the Specialist monitors course scheduling, seat allocation, and registration processes to optimize resource use and align academic offerings with student demand. This operations-focused role also helps academic units align on best practices. Serving as a key liaison to academic units and campus partners, the Specialist supports curriculum workflows, ensures compliance with university policies and state statutes, and facilitates effective communication to streamline course production and program delivery. This role analyzes academic program data to guide continuous improvement and contributes to planning future academic initiatives. Through collaboration across academic departments and administrative units, this position promotes accessible, engaging online programs that meet the evolving needs of UF Online students, ensuring a smooth and seamless academic experience.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead market research and support the development of new academic programs, including majors, minors, and courses.
  • Coordinate curriculum approval processes in partnership with academic units and university committees.
  • Collaborate with academic units and colleges to identify opportunities for expanding UF Online's academic offerings.
  • Facilitate the seamless transition of approved proposals to the Center for Online Innovation and Production (COIP) for production intake.
  • Inform UF Online leadership and department chairs about curriculum needs to help prioritize future course development.
  • Review courses production reports and maintain up-to-date degree maps.
  • Monitor course scheduling and seat management within the Colleges to optimize availability and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate with academic units to balance student demand with operational capacity.
  • Oversee registration preparation by verifying the schedule of courses' accuracy and reviewing registration reports.
  • Investigate erroneous registrations through communication with faculty, staff, or advisors.
  • Collaborate with the Quest Office and Academic Advising Center to analyze registration trends.
  • Support the prioritization of course development efforts to align with academic goals and student needs.
  • Develop, draft, and distribute clear and timely academic program communications.
  • Provide operational support for curriculum workflows by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor adherence to university policies and statutes to ensure curriculum compliance.
  • Collect and analyze academic program data to evaluate course and program effectiveness.
  • Utilize insights to drive continuous improvement, ensuring offerings remain responsive to student needs.
  • Develop data tools and reporting infrastructure to support operational effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic priorities of UF Online.
