Under the guidance and direction of the Dean of Workforce Development, the Academic Program Director for Commercial and Residential Electricity will perform key functions including providing multi-disciplined credit and non-credit instructional services each semester, engaging industry partners to connect students to employment opportunities, maintaining materials associated with the Electrical Department, collaborating on program review and accreditation efforts, performing academic advising activities, engaging in professional development, participating in department activities, promoting the program and department, maintaining a safe working area, and providing project coordination for student constructed campus projects.

  • Provide instructional services including teaching courses and managing course operations.
  • Assist with the development of course outcomes and curriculum.
  • Convey course outcomes and expectations to students.
  • Organize and manage instructional activities using learner-centered methods.
  • Seek feedback on course delivery and student learning.
  • Revise and update courses regularly.
  • Follow College requirements regarding attendance, grades, and assessment documentation.
  • Perform student academic advising activities including recruitment and placement.
  • Maintain sufficient office hours and advise students having difficulty.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and maintain appropriate certification.
  • Participate in department activities and work cooperatively with others.
  • Proactively promote the program and assist in developing promotional materials.
  • Represent the Electrical program at recruiting events and community activities.
  • Participate in academic affairs and institutional activities.
  • High school diploma or GED required with 7-10 years of industry experience; OR Associate's degree and 4-6 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with residential wiring and services, commercial wiring.
  • Experience with PLC's and AC/DC motors is a bonus.
  • Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office, Email, AutoCAD, and Blackboard preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certified required, OSHA 500 certified a bonus.
  • Ability to read, understand, and use technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to use and instruct using industry required tools and equipment.
  • Prior experience educating students/apprentices preferred, not required.
  • Caring attitude toward students and willingness to help them succeed.
  • Flexibility in dealing with others and ability to work as a team member.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills.
  • Learning and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Experience with PLC's and AC/DC motors.
  • Prior experience educating students/apprentices.
  • Salary range of $60,000 - $65,000.
