Under the guidance and direction of the Dean of Workforce Development, the Academic Program Director for the Advanced Welding Certificate will deliver in-person instruction in welding courses including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW. The role involves preparing syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and grading criteria, while teaching both classroom and lab components with an emphasis on safety and industry standards. The director will maintain AWS instructional and testing standards, ensure lab equipment is properly used and maintained, and advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, and workforce readiness. Participation in student recruitment, open houses, industry engagement, and outreach events is also required, along with maintaining scheduled office hours for student support and consultation. Continuous assessment of student learning outcomes and contribution to curriculum updates and program improvement are key responsibilities. The director will assist in maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and accrediting body standards, collaborate with faculty and industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs, and support college initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student retention. Engaging in professional development to stay current with welding technology and instructional practices, as well as participating in departmental and college committees and activities, is expected.
