About The Position

The Academic Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the administration of academic programs at Urban College of Boston. This position is integral to managing curriculum, supporting faculty, coordinating with community partners, and ensuring that the programs meet educational standards and best practices. The Coordinator will work closely with the Early Childhood Education Program Chair, while also providing administrative support to the Program Chairs of Human Services Administration and General Studies. This role involves collaboration with students, faculty, and external stakeholders to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the College's academic program offerings. In terms of program support and coordination, the Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the programs, which includes scheduling, resource management, and coordination of activities. They will collect and review syllabi and course materials, manage program budgets, track expenditures, and prepare reports and documentation for program evaluations and accreditation. The Coordinator will also assist in identifying internship locations for students in the early childhood education program and provide guidance during their practicums/internships. The role also encompasses student support, where the Coordinator will advise and support students in the early childhood education program, including academic advising for 18 students and career guidance. They will help coordinate student events, workshops, and extracurricular activities related to academic affairs programming, and participate in current and prospective student-centered activities, which may require in-person attendance. In terms of community and external relations, the Coordinator will assist in building and maintaining partnerships with local schools, childcare centers, and community organizations. They will support the organization of outreach programs, community events, and public relations efforts related to the College's academic programs. The Coordinator will also be involved in assessment, compliance, and quality assurance, supporting the ECE Program Chair with ongoing implementation and reporting responsibilities related to City of Boston grants and Department of Early Education and Care contracts. They will assist in conducting program assessments and evaluations, gathering data, and preparing reports to inform program improvements. Additionally, the Coordinator will monitor adherence to ECE licensing and accreditation requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and assist in developing and enforcing policies and procedures to maintain program quality and effectiveness. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
