The Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking one full-time, Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment. The anticiated start date for this opportunity is March 1, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, Assistant Professor of the Practice or Associate Professor of the Practice depending on qualifications. Appointments at the Associate level are eligible for recommendation for the USAA Educational Foundation Endowed Professorship in Military Financial Readiness. Appointments at the Assistant level will become eligible for recommendation upon promotion to the Associate rank. This role offers the opportunity to meaningfully impact student success, particularly for those in the Corps of Cadets, through recruitment, instruction, and mentorship and to play an active role in shaping the future of the newly established financial planning major, ensuring its alignment with evolving industry trends and best practices. The primary duties are preparing and teaching courses related to both financial planning and financial readiness during the academic year and mentoring undergraduate students. The teaching load is three courses per semester, typically two related to financial planning, with the exact course assignment tailored to the candidate's expertise and specialization, and one over financial readiness in a course focused on equipping Corps of Cadet students with the necessary skills to navigate intricate financial decisions both during their military service and post-career. Teaching responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging courses, both in traditional classroom settings and online platforms, grading coursework, conducting regular office hours, and additional mentorship to students. Additional key responsibilities include providing service to the department, college, and university, engaging with industry partners, collaborating with donors who support endowed funding in the areas of financial planning and financial readiness, and actively participating in financial planning program meetings, functions, and events. The successful candidate should also continue with their professional development by participating in relevant conferences and workshops and staying current with emerging knowledge in financial planning and financial readiness. The financial planning program was established in 2014 with an academic minor and has experienced significant growth in the past decade.
