About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Murrieta, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Murrieta, CA Schedule: 15 hours per month, 2-3 times per week for 1.25 hours Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Experience working with high school or transitional-age students with ASD and intellectual disabilities Background supporting foundational literacy and math at the elementary level (approx. 2nd–3rd grade) Experience teaching functional academics and life skills (e.g., money skills, real-world applications) Familiarity with executive functioning support, including organization, planning, and task completion Understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and supporting students with sensitivity and low confidence Skilled in checking for understanding and adapting instruction when students appear to “mask” confusion Patient, calm, and perceptive, with the ability to build trust and rapport Ability to create structured, supportive, and engaging sessions

Requirements

  • Experience working with high school or transitional-age students with ASD and intellectual disabilities
  • Background supporting foundational literacy and math at the elementary level (approx. 2nd–3rd grade)
  • Experience teaching functional academics and life skills (e.g., money skills, real-world applications)
  • Familiarity with executive functioning support, including organization, planning, and task completion
  • Understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and supporting students with sensitivity and low confidence
  • Skilled in checking for understanding and adapting instruction when students appear to “mask” confusion
  • Patient, calm, and perceptive, with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Ability to create structured, supportive, and engaging sessions

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including reading comprehension and basic writing skills
  • Deliver math instruction focused on foundational skills and real-life application (e.g., money skills)
  • Support functional academics, including practical life skills and driver’s test preparation
  • Teach and reinforce executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, and task follow-through
  • Incorporate SEL strategies to support confidence, emotional regulation, and self-awareness
  • Regularly check for understanding and adjust instruction to ensure comprehension
  • Break down tasks into manageable steps with clear, structured guidance
  • Provide consistent encouragement and create a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Incorporate student interests (e.g., wrestling, music) to increase engagement and motivation
  • Implement structured routines with flexibility to support emotional needs
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student responsiveness
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
