About The Position

The Academic Liaison requires a multi-talented, flexible individual committed to scholar success to and through college. The Academic Liaison’s primary role is to act as a bridge between Argosy Collegiate scholars and their teachers, working closely with content teams to develop and implement supportive structures during scholars’ study blocks and core content class times. This requires an understanding of building a positive and productive learning environment within the school day that supports scholars’ goal setting, organization, coursework completion, and self-advocacy.

Requirements

BA/BS in related content area such as Youth Development, Education, or Mentorship
Completion of the MTELs in Communication & Literacy and in content area by the end of the first year of employment
Alignment with Argosy Collegiate’s mission and vision for all scholars.
Experience working with youth in an urban and/or school setting with a proven track record for effectively supporting academic progress.
Ability to think and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial setting.
Ability to think critically, problem-solve, backwards plan, analyze and use data, and prioritize the needs of scholars.
Collaborative team player – communicative, reflective, strong work ethic, sense of humor, receptive to feedback, growth mindset, data-driven, supportive, and relentlessly optimistic.
Exceptionally professional and respectful with all stakeholders.
Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the U.S. required.

Nice To Haves

Education licensure through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (preferred)
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

Create and supervise positive and productive study blocks for scholars with a focus on building supportive communities, scholar agency, goal-setting, and effective academic habits, as well as productive in-school work time.
Support scholars’ executive functioning needs by establishing routines and structures designed to benefit scholars’ organization in high school and beyond.
Provide proctoring support during the administration of assessments on a team.
Collaborate with content teachers to understand syllabi, coursework, timelines, and instructional strategies to best support scholars’ achievement.
Provide varied and differentiated supports to meet scholars where they are and to challenge and motivate them.
Collaborate within the school community to ensure scholars’ needs are met.
Create a positive, warm, and achievement-oriented environment based on high expectations that engages, encourages and motivates scholars to own their learning, behavior, and choices.
Hold all scholars to a high bar of excellence, integrity and accountability.
Work with school leadership to ensure discipline policies and classroom management are consistent and effective.
Effectively communicate with scholars, families, and colleagues by exemplifying Argosy Collegiate’s DREAM Values.
Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, and team planning meetings.
Be reflective, responsible, and solutions-oriented in problem solving and perspective, collaborating with peers, team leaders, and school leadership to improve instructional, cultural, and leadership systems and structures.
Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom management.
Participate enthusiastically in both formal and informal learning and development opportunities.
Collaborate with the Principal and the Assistant Principal on the monitoring and evaluation of academic data to assess scholar progress and to make the necessary program adjustments to improve scholar achievement.
Review course progress and maintain gradebooks for all scholars in Anchor Times and Gator Times.
Support the safety, welfare, and supervision of students at all times while on school premises or engaged in school-sponsored activities; serve as a mandated reporter, promptly reporting any suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with state laws and school policy.
Model and uphold the School’s Code of Conduct, core values, and professional standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook; maintain appropriate, respectful, and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance according to the school’s established schedule, including special events, meetings, and required professional development sessions.
Perform duties in various classroom and school environments, including outdoor supervision as needed.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment.
