About The Position

Mount St. Michael Catholic School is seeking an Academic Language Therapist for the 2026-2027 School Year to meet the needs of the students diagnosed with Dyslexia. Mount St. Michael Catholic School (MSMCS) is a private Catholic Classical School within the Diocese of Dallas, accredited by TCCB ED. MSMCS has a Montessori program for 3k-5k and then transitions into a Classical school for 1st-8th grades. It is located in southwest Dallas on the property of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity. The school's mission is to form children in courageous virtue grounded in the truth of Christ: to reason clearly, to choose morally, and to serve faithfully. The mission of the Catholic school is to “Teach as Jesus did,” thereby mandating teachers in our schools to be reflections of Christ’s love and concern. The Classroom Teacher plans, guides, and evaluates the learning process of students. This position reports to the principal and has decision-making responsibilities within the framework of school policies, philosophy, organization, and curriculum.

Requirements

  • Be a dedicated professional who understands the joys and demands of teaching
  • CALT, ALTA Certification

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years experience as an Academic Language Therapist working with Dyxlexic students

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily lessons that meet the goals of the students
  • Perform all basic administrative duties (ex. progress records, documentation for Student Services and Individual Student Plans, comment writing)
  • Collaboratively assist certified and support staff in addressing the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with a diagnosed learning difference
  • Support the teacher in establishing and maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests and special needs of the students
  • Assist teachers in establishing student standards for academic success
  • Participate in the IEP process by attending public school IEP meetings when necessary
  • Recommend a variety of instructional techniques that support the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide input for Students’ educational programs
  • Analyze the instructional needs of students on a regular basis
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Conduct daily alpha phonics classes for students with diagnosed learning differences and who qualify for the program
