About The Position

The mission of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is to create opportunities for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life. The intended impact is that participating youth will become Snider student-athletes with age-appropriate social-emotional strengths and skills to succeed and contribute as students, employees, and community members. Academic Instructors help Snider achieve its missio n by delivering academic programs and providing direct academic support to students.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent) is ; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience working with children, particularly within an academic and athletic environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills are critical.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Applicants should be outgoing and ready to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Academic materials at the rink, including setting up signage, activities, informative materials, and communicating inventory needs to the Academic Achievement Coordinator.
  • Informing students and families of all academic programs offered and providing direct assistance to those in need of academic information or support.
  • Tracking reading progress of students, celebrating their success, distributing prizes, and engaging with families to participate in reading challenges.
  • Providing direct homework assistance to students at the rink.
  • Leading academic activities and events at the rink.
  • D istribution of promotional materials and academic curriculum to students and families , both in-person and via email.
  • Collecting report cards from students and processing them with the Academic Achievement Coordinator.
  • Supporting Neighborhood Leader, Program Coordinator, and other Snider staff at the rink with additional daily tasks whenever possible.
  • Consistent and effective communication with the Academic Achievement Coordinator and rink leaders weekly, ensuring all Academic support is provided as designed.
  • Flexible availability is necessary as night duty and travel throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region are .
  • Occasional weekend work may also be .
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
