The Academic Director position for the Undergraduate Online Business and Leadership & Organizational Studies programs within Bay Path Online reports to the Dean of the School of Management and Technology and supervises all accelerated programs offered to undergraduate Bay Path Online learners in the business and leadership disciplines. This role has administrative and leadership responsibility in a fast-paced educational environment and requires dedication to collaboration. The Academic Director works closely with other staff and is responsible for program development, curriculum, delivery, assessment of student learning, faculty selection, management and development under his/her discipline(s) oversight. Additionally, the Academic Director teaches a minimum of two, 3-credit courses each fiscal year. The Academic Director should possess the desire to work in such an innovative, technology-enhanced, and data-driven environment and be able to collaborate across divisions and in partnership with academic technologists, instructional designers, advisors and student service teams, as well as marketing and admissions teams. This academic leader must be committed to exploring new methods that advance learning and willing to assess and reassess for constant improvement. The Academic Director possesses the ability to understand his/her field with an eye towards new program development, and familiarity with online teaching pedagogy and technology. The Academic Director will understand and use data driven decision making in his/her analysis of the discipline, in determining faculty performance, and in gauging student learning outcomes. This is a highly collaborative role that requires a commitment to innovative teaching and data-driven decision-making. The director is responsible for all aspects of the programs, including curriculum, faculty, and student success.

  • Continuous oversight of the online undergraduate business and leadership & Organizational Studies degree programs.
  • Plan and manage all course schedules and offerings for the six (6) academic sessions per academic year
  • Lead program development, curriculum design, and yearly program assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and other staff to ensure program quality and compliance.
  • Participate in the development, refinement, and enforcement of relevant academic policies and procedures
  • Manage and respond to all discipline specific accreditation requirements.
  • Promote programs by collaborating with admissions and marketing.
  • Stay abreast of teaching/learning innovations and recommend changes for continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise adjunct faculty for all course sections within the discipline(s) for each academic session
  • Conduct regular faculty and course assessments to ensure teaching excellence by reviewing course evaluations and other course metrics
  • Provide ongoing mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities for adjunct faculty.
  • Lead the development and revision of courses and collaborate with academic technology and instructional design staff on design and compliance.
  • Identify and cultivate resources for teaching/learning, such as OER and accessible learning-related content to help students achieve learning outcomes.
  • Responsible for hiring Subject Matter Experts to work on course design and redesign and managing the progress of course development projects.
  • Provide University leadership and oversight for 3rd party educational partnerships aligned with the School of Management & Technology.
  • Scan the academic landscape to develop ideas for partnering with academic and other organizations to drive enrollment.
  • Provide students with clear pathways to success within respective discipline(s) that adequately prepare students for careers or graduate school.
  • Directly engage with students enrolled in discipline(s) by a variety of methods such as hosting office hours, webinars, open houses, etc.
  • Troubleshoots student complaints, appeals and disputes according to institutional policies and procedures.
  • Analyze student support needs and implement strategies to improve student satisfaction and learning outcomes.
  • Teach a minimum of two 3-credit courses per year.
  • Maintain an active presence on campus, attending university events such as Commencement and other key meetings.
  • Some travel to campus may be required.
  • Attend trainings as required.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.
  • Master's degree is required; a doctorate or terminal degree preferred in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Organizational Leadership, Management).
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, online teaching, and program management.
  • Must have familiarity with online teaching pedagogy and technology.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage faculty and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to using data for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the University community including students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • All new employees must complete the FERPA, Anti-Harassment, and any other required online trainings within 15 days of employment.
  • General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
