About The Position

The Academic Coordinator is the primary point of contact for an assigned group of Gillings students. This individual supports each assigned student by guiding their educational planning and progress, connecting them with resources that will maximize student success, proactively identifying and helping remove barriers, and responding to all types of issues identified by the student or by faculty that could impede student progress. The Academic Coordinator uses a high touch approach, maintaining a wide network of connections and collaborating flexibly with faculty and with other Academic Coordinators to ensure that each student's experience is maximized in a positive way. The Academic Coordinator is a key part of recruitment and admissions activities, working closely with faculty and with Enrollment Management staff to help attract and admit top students.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering student services.
  • Higher education experience with students at various degree levels.
  • Knowledge of student advising and counseling services.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated service orientation and passion for serving students.
  • Ability to manage high volume of requests efficiently.
  • Resilience and positive problem-solving approach.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Effective communication with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Compliance with university and external policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in student affairs, education, or counseling.
  • Experience with online student populations.
