The Academic Associate at CT State Norwalk is a full-time, tenure track position responsible for supporting faculty and students in academic labs. This role involves independent scheduling, setup, maintenance of labs, and assisting with laboratory instruction in a community college environment. The position aims to create a conducive learning environment for a diverse student population in various academic disciplines, particularly in science and technology.

Responsibilities

• Independently schedule, set up, and maintain academic labs.
• Assist faculty with laboratory instruction and student assignments.
• Attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies.
• Serve on assigned committees and task forces.
• Attend professional meetings, which may include evening or weekend events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a closely allied field.
• One or more years of related experience in an academic lab setting.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of biology or chemistry principles.
• Advanced understanding of lab equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Strong information technology literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
