The position is focused on providing individualized academic and career advising to students at DCC, specifically within the Academic Affairs department under Advising and Retention. The advisor will assist students with course selection, degree planning, registration, and monitoring academic progress. The role includes developing educational plans aligned with students' career interests and providing early intervention for those needing additional support. The advisor will also document advising sessions and refer students to other supportive services available on and off campus.

  • Provide individualized academic and career advising to students regarding course selection, degree planning, registration, and academic progress.
  • Assist students in developing realistic academic goals and educational plans aligned with their career interests.
  • Monitor student academic performance and provide early intervention for students needing additional support.
  • Advise students on institutional policies, catalog requirements, academic standing, and transfer or graduation requirements.
  • Provide students with semester plans and assist with goal setting.
  • Document advising sessions and refer students to other supportive services on and off campus.
  • Bachelor's degree or 8-10 years of work related experience.
  • 1 year of experience in Higher Education.
  • Master's degree.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft office suite).
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in teams; highly organized.
