Northern Kentucky University is seeking an Academic Advisor to join the Informatics Student Success and Advising Center. This full-time position is dedicated to advising undergraduate majors in the College of Informatics, providing essential academic guidance and support across 13 different disciplines. The Academic Advisor will employ holistic and proactive advising strategies aimed at enhancing student retention, persistence, and overall success. The role involves working closely with students to help them identify and implement the best paths to graduation, while also directing them to various student resources. The advisor will be responsible for fostering productive relationships with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators throughout the university. A strong understanding of university policies, tools, systems, and best practices in academic advising is crucial for this position. The advisor will also serve as an advocate for the college and its mission, emphasizing collaboration, creative problem-solving, and professional development. In addition to advising responsibilities, the Academic Advisor will participate in admissions, orientation, recruitment, and retention events, serve on relevant committees, and assist with special initiatives within the Informatics Student Success and Advising Center. The advisor will also have the opportunity to become a Master Advisor, a program designed to enhance the skills of advisors to provide high-quality support to NKU students. Regular training and attendance at conferences will be expected to stay updated on NKU policies and best practices in academic advising.
