About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Academic Advisor at Lourdes University provides holistic guidance and service for dual enrollment, direct from high school, transfer, non-traditional and returning students. Will serve as the students' first point of contact after admittance to the university and will orient the student on plan of study, transfer credit evaluation, and major exploration. Additionally, will serve as a resource to continuing students through holistic advising and success coaching. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide individualized orientation and registration advising to newly admitted, direct from high school, transfer, non­ traditional and readmitted students through outreach, onboarding, transfer credit evaluation and course registration. Evaluate transcripts or incoming and continuing students; outreach to faculty for further evaluation as needed. Assist with transfer credit database maintenance. Serve as secondary advisor and success coach to dual enrollment, direct from high school, and transfer students throughout their first semester at Lourdes. Maintain contact and provide advice and resources to students with academic early alerts. Review midterm grades and conduct outreach as necessary. Conduct outreach to unregistered students and assist with registration when needed. Collaborate with the Director of Advising to host the Spring Student Orientation and the Fall Transfer, Non-Traditional and Readmitted Student Orientation. As needed, serve as primary advisor and success coach to Actively participate in college community functions (such as open houses, orientations, commencement, convocation). Promote and integrate the Franciscan values of community, learning, reverence, and service. Perform other duties as requested. Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; prior advising experience preferred Effective verbal and written communication skills Sufficient knowledge and prior use of computer software and content management systems preferred Must work well with others and be committed to providing a nurturing approach to learning Strong team orientation Some evening or weekend hours may be necessary at peak advising and registration time
