As a member of the Academic Advising Center & New Student Orientation, the Academic Advisor: Provides educational information about college academic programs and services for prospective and currently enrolled students; Orients new students toward an informed and successful start to their college experience; Assists students in assessing their interest and abilities by examining their educational goals, making decisions and developing short and long-term educational plans to meet their planned objectives; Interprets and reviews college placement examinations, Advanced Placement (AP), ACT / SAT scores, IB and CLEP (College Level Examination Placement) to ensure proper course selection; Provides accurate and timely information related to Career Programs and Transfer courses; Demonstrates knowledge about educational, institutional, corporate and community resources, as well as other college-wide programs and services. Presents on Academic Advising services to groups of students, classes, parents, and/or college staff. Provides programming and interventions in which Academic Advisors directly support students.
